Home Business Opportunity Leads The best leads are those you actually generate yourself. However, when a person is first starting out, or just learning how to generate their own leads, they sometimes need to use purchase leads to start "filling the pipeline" or may simply want to have additional leads to add to what they are generating. You want to make sure you are getting leads who have actually requested information about a home business, not, tricked into giving their information, or recycled from a request 6 years ago! Cost alone is no indicator of the actual quality you will receive. |

Having enough people who are interested in looking at a business opportunity is important to the success of your network marketing business. If fact, not having enough qualified people to talk with is one of the four major reasons people fail in our industry. That being said, leads are not going to magically build your business. Having quality leads can be an important factor, but leads will do you absolutely no good if you don't know how to effectively use them. I used many different lead sources over the years. The skill of the marketer has everything to do with how success a person will be using leads. However, it is difficult to develop those skills if you are not getting past the intial contact. I know from generating leads off my own website that I will occasionally have someone say they haven't requested information even though I know they did, but it doesn't happen that often. If you are constantly having people tell you they were trying to win an Ipod, you need to look for a different lead source! Sometimes leads sources change too. The company may not be able to keep up with growing demands and instead of generating all their own leads, may purchase from lead brokers and quality can suffer. I had that happen to me with a lead source I was using for my organization a while back. Over the years I have used different lead sources for my team. Generating Your Own Leads Even when you locate a reputable company with a decent quality of lead, a purchased lead will never be as good as a lead you generate yourself. When you generate your own leads, people are searching and finding YOU. They make a connection with you before you even call. Although this doesn't mean they'll jump right into whatever you are offering, but the relationship building has begun. Depending on how you are having people opt-in - whether requesting a free e book, like The 7 Great Lies of Network Marketing, signing up for your newsletter, purchasing training material, etc. - you are also looking at someone who is more serious than a purchased leadl. You see with a purchased lead, the person may be just surfing on the Internet when he sees an ad that looks interesting and opts in. The person may have just had a rough day at work and the idea of making money at home sound interesting, but he or she may not be seriously searching. However, when you are generating your own lead, for the most part, the person is searching for something specifically. They are reading an ezine they subscribed to that is related to what you are marketing, or reading your blog or your article - and so on. So this person is actively searching ...and finding, or attracted to, what YOU have to offer. If you are using a auto responder, like GetResponse or Aweber, they are also receiving emails directly from you as soon as they opt-in to what you are offering. Of course your emails should be educational in nature and of VALUE. But at any rate they already know who you are. It is not at all uncommon to get responses like this when call a lead you have generated yourself: “Oh hi Sally! I was meaning to call you!” And fairly frequently people may actually email or call you before you get chance to call them. This just doesn't happen with a purchased lead! Of course generating your own leads does take time to learn and also time to start generating enough.
